This book was hard to write. Harder than some of the others. Why? I think because all the secrets in Reece’s life were so layered and devastating that I had to be careful how I handled revealing them as not to destroy a sensitive man, who’d been hurt in the worst way by his own mother, biological father, and his first wife…all when dealing with being in love, a unexpected pregnancy, and woman he had to prove he could change.
Reece and Patty are probably the most complex couple I’ve written. They both bring so much baggage to the table, they really have to unpack before they can allow themselves to truly love.
Anyway, its free on Amazon, so download, enjoy, and don’t forget to write a review….
That is a question my hero FRANK HARMON faces in the book DARK WATER, which happens to be free today.
When Frank is called to a home during a domestic dispute, and he knows the woman is lying when she says she’s fine and nothing happened. Just a misunderstanding. He doesn’t back down easily, asking her to step outside, talk without her husband present, but she refuses, so Frank has to walk away…
Two days later, as a RESCUE SWIMMER on the SCUBA team for the State Police, he pulls that woman’s dead body from the lake. An event that changes him forever. He blames himself. Worse, he comes face to face with the victims ten-year-old son.
Frank has always believed everything has to be done by the book, so when he goes breaking rules to make sure the victim’s murderer is brought to justice, its a huge character change for him. That said, if faced with the same dilemma, he’d still follow protocol, only he might push a little harder.
Our Heroine, Lacy, has a different character change because she too, blames the cop who walked away from her sister the night the police were called. Imagine what happens when she finds out the man she’s about to marry, who is helping find her sister’s killer, is the man she blames for her death?
