Do what is right in the eyes of the law? Or what is right in your heart?

Free Today!

That is a question my hero FRANK HARMON faces in the book DARK WATER, which happens to be free today.

When Frank is called to a home during a domestic dispute, and he knows the woman is lying when she says she’s fine and nothing happened. Just a misunderstanding. He doesn’t back down easily, asking her to step outside, talk without her husband present, but she refuses, so Frank has to walk away…

Two days later, as a RESCUE SWIMMER on the SCUBA team for the State Police, he pulls that woman’s dead body from the lake. An event that changes him forever. He blames himself. Worse, he comes face to face with the victims ten-year-old son.

Frank has always believed everything has to be done by the book, so when he goes breaking rules to make sure the victim’s murderer is brought to justice, its a huge character change for him. That said, if faced with the same dilemma, he’d still follow protocol, only he might push a little harder.

Our Heroine, Lacy, has a different character change because she too, blames the cop who walked away from her sister the night the police were called. Imagine what happens when she finds out the man she’s about to marry, who is helping find her sister’s killer, is the man she blames for her death?

You can’t win if you don’t enter…#BookSweeps #amreading #Kindle

Who doesn’t love a man in uniform? I’ve asked myself (and others) what the fascination is with men in uniform. I get varying answers ranging from they are macho to gentlemanly. My fascination for State Troopers started when I was a little girl growing up in Lake George and one of my father’s good friends was a State Trooper. His name was Sargent Hornburger… I think. Not sure of the spelling. I was probably 10 years old the last time I saw him.

Anywho, Sargent Hornburger came over to our cottage on Lake George on his Police Motorcycle. OMG. I just thought that was so cool. Even cooler, he gave me a ride on the bike. I think in today’s world I’d have to sign my life away for that ride, but imagine a 10 year-old tomboy climbing on the back of that bike and going for a joy ride down Cleverdale Road. I was badass!

Not exactly sure if the next event was before after the motorcycle ride, but my sister and I got to go for a ride in a Police Helicopter. Back then, I wasn’t so afraid of flying. Not sure you could get me in chopper now. We road around low over the Lake George, enjoying the sights. It was pretty awesome. As we rounded Huckleberry Island my sister and I got a real treat…the State Trooper Rescue¬†SCUBA team must have been on a break from training and decided to moon the chopper in the air. I guess they didn’t know a couple if impressionable girls were in there.

If you’ve read any of my books in the NY STATE TROOPER SERIES, you will notice they take place in Lake George and they are about Troopers and the SCUBA team. Amazing the things that shape our lives. Who knew a little moon by a bunch of cops would have such a life long effect on a little girl!
